HHM Sponsors Mock Trial High School Teams, Lawyers Advise

  • February 9, 2018

WARREN, Ohio – Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell has been a sponsor and lawyers Matthew Ries and Vito Abruzzino have been serving as attorney advisors to local high school mock trial teams.

Ries, advising Niles McKinley High School for the fifth year, and Abruzzino, advising Lordstown High for the first, worked diligently over the last several months to prepare their squads for the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education’s Mock Trial Competition, hosted by the Trumbull County Bar Association.

Teams throughout the county and state argued and presented a hypothetical case in January to a panel of actual Trumbull County judges and attorneys for feedback and scoring, with the goal of advancing to the regional and state levels of competition.

Niles will advance for the first time to the regional tournament, which will take place February 16. The Niles team also received accolades for several individual performances. Lordstown, with a young squad featuring one senior, made great strides and presented well. With seven out of eight competitors returning next year, the team is rightfully optimistic for future competitions.

Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell Ltd. provides legal solutions to corporations, other businesses, non-profit organizations, government agencies and individuals. Its lawyers work from offices in Youngstown, Warren and Salem, Ohio.
