HHM Releases 2025 Community Involvement Highlights

The lawyers and staff at Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell, Ltd. are dedicated to supporting the Mahoning Valley. We provide financial and in-kind support throughout the year to organizations that support economic development, healthcare, education, the arts, food distribution, youth sports and much more.

Just for Kicks Benefit Auction – HHM was a gold sponsor for the Annual “Just For Kicks” Auction at John F. Kennedy High School. Funds raised support technology, classroom enhancement, academics, athletics and more.

Threshold Residential Services Annual Gala – HHM and Marty Boetcher sponsored the organization’s 3rd Annual Gala and supported facility renovations for its “Open Door Opportunities” Day Program. The organization provides residential support, vocational programs and inclusive community initiatives for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Mahoning County Juvenile Court Community Advisory Board’s Bags & Baubles – HHM was pleased to be among the sponsors for the advisory board’s annual event, which supports the court’s vital programs and education for at-risk youth and their families. Kiwanis Club of Salem – Shawna L’Italien was a 2025 bronze sponsor of the club.

Piranha Aquatics Team – Shawna L’Italien helped support team operations as a 2025 bronze sponsor.

Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County – Marty Boetcher and the firm were glad to support the library’s annual campaign benefiting the Family Place Library at the Michael
Kusalaba Branch. The initiative promotes early learning opportunities for young children, parents and caregivers.

Salem Area Chamber of Commerce – HHM was among the organization’s 2025 sponsors.

High School Mock Trial Teams: John F. Kennedy and Niles McKinley – HHM sponsors high school mock trial teams at both Niles McKinley High School and John F. Kennedy High
School, coached by Matthew Ries (Niles) and James LaPolla (JFK). Both teams won the district tournament in January 2025 at the Trumbull County Courthouse (pictured below: Niles team; JFK team).

In February, at the regional competition, the Niles team (pictured below) won two Best Lawyer awards and a Best Witness award, while the JFK team (bottom photo) won a Best Witness award.

PRO BONO SERVICES

  • HHM lawyer Kevin Murphy provided legal counsel to St. Vincent de Paul Northeast Ohio District Council on corporate and real estate matters.
  • HHM lawyer Shawna L’Italien provided pro bono estate planning and probate assistance to individuals through Community Legal Aid and provided legal counsel to various charitable organizations on corporate and other legal matters.
